So this is what happened a few days ago. I, being the concerned citizen that I am, attended a few lectures on Greening MIT. The MIT community was invited to come "walk the talk" on energy, environment, and sustainability at MIT. We were told how to be "green ambassadors" and instructed to help promote responsible use of energy and natural resources among our colleagues. I mentioned before that I feel pretty strongly about this topic and think it's essential that we all do our part. I was thrilled that MIT was finally addressing the issue and making some changes in how we do things here. The lectures were not bad, but they lacked a certain something. That is until, TIM the MIT beaver showed up....TIM politely knocked on a door on the side of the auditorium. He entered the room to
thunderous applause and carefully made his way to the podium. Apparently, TIM agreed with me that the presentations were a little boring and he decided to spice things up a bit. The next few minutes were some of the most hilarious moments ever as TIM shared his presentation, to the glorious tones of the Black Eyed Peas singing "Let's Get It Started." TIM showed us how to be more environmentally friendly through a series of pictures of him turning off lights, shutting fume hoods, taking the bus, and other responsible actions. This alone, was pretty funny, but the presentation was enhanced by TIM dancing through the whole thing. Yes, dancing! As though his life depended on it. I think all lectures at MIT would be a bit more enjoyable if they had a dancing beaver.... I think almost EVERYTHING would be more enjoyable if it had a dancing beaver!
