Green is keen

Yesterday was our first conference of the season, the Future of Mobility. It was very exciting as we decided we were going "green." No more binders with all of the conference presentations printed out. No more killing trees for needless speakers bios that were already online. No more plastic bottles that no one recycles. No more killing flowers for cut flower arrangements!

We were taking a stand and were ready for people to complain and be angry about all the great things we were denying them. Guess what! No one cared! Sure, attendees thought it was great they were getting a free flash drive out of the deal, but no negative comments were heard.... at least by me.

The best part, well at least according to me, one with very screwed up priorities, were the pepper plants that acted as the centerpieces on the tables at lunch. They were so colorful with their green foliage and brightly colored peppers. Red, orange, yellow... it looked so great. And we didn't have to kill the plants to use them! Now I have a gorgeous pepper plant sitting on my kitchen table and hopefully I can put it to use with some spicy cooking.

After the post-conference reception, Lynn and I drove over to Boston for Jess and Yvonne's birthday dinner. We went to Maggiano's and had a lovely dinner complete with my favorite, bread dipped in olive oil and parmesan cheese. I got angel hair with arrabbiata sauce, which was good but not spicy enough (I should have brought my pepper plant!). I think I like eating angel hair because it's so thin that you don't need to really chew it. It's almost like you're not eating at all! That makes sense, right?

Anyway, it was a good day, but only one more month until the next conference...
