and it's really just a room with a bar in it. And a fireplace. I think that's what makes it so cool... a crackling fire on a cold night with a $6 pitcher of beer and a gorgeous view of the Charles River. We had gone there to meet Sue and Mikey, friends from my old job and Spike's current job, who are indescribably fun and awesome. The Muddy (as its close, personal friends like to call it) doesn't have any food, but patrons are encouraged to order food and have it delivered. Well, when Spike and I got there, three of the tables were occupied by a 10-foot long sub. Two people were "dressing" it with buckets of tomatoes, onions, peppers, and pickles. The pickles immediately caught my eye and I started drooling. The sub wasn't for us, but I knew those pickles would be mine.
We had a great time with Sue and Mikey and all those people came to eat the sub. They were packing it up and taking away the jugs of toppings when I offered to buy the pickles... I couldn't let them go to waste! It turns out that they were about to throw them away and I saved those poor little pickles from certain death!
Saturday was the Central Square test run bar crawl in honor of Jess's birthday. Most people think that a bar crawl is an afternoon/evening event, but I tend to disagree. Day drinking is the most fun, it gives you a chance to enjoy the daylight, it allows you to sober up before bed to avoid a hangover, and if you know anything about Central Square, you don't want to be there after dark!
Jess and I met Rose and Aren at the Asgard for brunch and quite possibly the best bloody mary I've had. Our
Sunday was the christening for Gavin, and Spike did a great job and will be a wonderful godfather. I thought there would be no drinking, but of course the Wesleys threw a fabulous party after and the Portuguese wine was just too good to pass up.
So now I'm in detox... drying out until at least this evening. Hey! It's Jess's birthday! I'm too old for this...
