Hot Damn!

Spiker and I traveled to the Mt. Washington Resort this past weekend with Lynn and Brendan. The benefit of being a fabulous event planner is that people want you to come check out their facilities so that you can plan events there. Sometimes they even pay for your room! This was one of those times and I'm sure it had not much to do with the fabulousness of me and Lynn and more to do with the fact that there is absolutely nothing to do in northern NH in November, especially when the heavens have opened and emptied themselves of every last drop of water. Yeah, the weather sucked and everything was closed. We had to eat lunch and dinner at the same restaurant, which was fine, but kind of lame. Also, when we asked what we could do on a rainy November afternoon, we were told we could go shopping at the oulets 45 minutes away. Spike and Brendan were obviously not thrilled with this concept.

The resort itself was gorgeous... picturesque, stately, grand, etc. Lynn and I took a tour with the Paul Bettany look-alike, slow-talker when we first arrived. We left the men watching football at the bar. The Christmas decorations were up and the place looked gorgeous. We even got to wear hard hats in the construction zones! We sat by the roaring fire for about five minutes after the tour before we realized there was nothing to do. Thankfully the boardgame closet offered Connect Four, which entertained us until we went back to the same place for dinner. The dinner was uneventful except for an after dinner shot of a cinnamin flavored liquor called Hot Damn!, which was delicious. You know it's a rough weekend when the highlight just may be ingesting a glass full of Dentyne gum. Actually, I jest... the highlight had to be The CAVE, a prohibition-era speakeasy with stone walls and ceiling. It was kind of like a wine cellar, but much much cooler. However, if I had taken a shot of Hot Damn! in the CAVE, I'm not quite sure what would have happened.
