A Wedding in a Library

The second wedding Spike and I went to this wedding season was in Boston.  Bridget and Bryan, our friends through Rose and Aren, got married at their church in the South End and held their reception at the Boston Public Library.  It was a beautiful wedding, but I would be lying if I didn't admit that the reception was what was really incredible.  It started out with the cocktail hour in the courtyard of the library.  It was a hot day with a beautiful blue sky, but the shade of the courtyard was nice and cool (I'm sure the vodka tonics didn't hurt either).
After enjoying some delicious hors d'oeuvres, we moved into the room in which we would eat dinner.  It's name is the "Popular Reading Room" and boy howdy it was gorgeous!  Shelves of books lined an upper level balcony, which spanned the entire room.  The ceiling was a beautiful mosaic and there were columns throughout.  It was such a unique space, but not air conditioned.
The band and dancing took place in yet another room, where Spike and I found floor vents blowing cool-ish air on which to stand for the remainder of the evening.  I'm sure there are some pictures out there showing my dress looking very Marilyn-esque, but what can I say?  I was hot.  I also had sweat stains on my dress and looked like I just jumped in a pool.  I know it's my fault for dancing so hard, but I just can't help it!  I should just get over it and not have all of this wedding weather envy... I should remember that I could see my breath on the dance floor of our wedding and I'll take that any day!
