Sailing away

Spike and I just got back from a wonderful vacation... a cruise to Bermuda. I wanted to plan something for after my birthday so that I wouldn't be too depressed about turning 30. It turns out that turning 30 wasn't that bad (yes, the surprise party helped a lot), but it was still nice to go on vacation! We sailed from Boston on the Norwegian Spirit and enjoyed a wonderful week full of dining, drinking, and relaxing.

At least I tried to relax...I'm so bad at being on vacation! I always feel like I should be doing something or seeing something new. That's why I thought the cruise would be perfect. I would be forced to relax on the days I wasn't running around Bermuda trying to see everything there was to see. We had one full day at sea before we docked on the island and two fulls days on the way back to Boston. Our first day I was so excited to explore the ship, and join any and all activities taking place, that I only sat still for about 15 mins. The days at sea on the return trip were better, but only because it rained one day and I was forced to stay inside and the other day I knew I'd be home the next day.

But those days in Bermuda.... wow... we were going non-stop and we saw as much as possible! We saw forts, sunsets, caves with underground lakes, unfinished churches, beautiful beaches,a lighthouse, and more beautiful beaches!

Bermuda is a gorgeous island and we had wonderful weather by which to explore it. The water is crystal clear and the sand is really pink! Now if only I could lay down on the pink sand and relax without wanting to see what's down the beach a little way. I'll work on that while I plan my next trip...
