Mommy Dearest

I love going to the movies... I always have and I always will. There's just something about the excitement of sitting in a darkened theater, filled with anticipation, about to be transported to another world for a few hours. Combine that with food, another love of mine, and my mother, yet another great love, and you have a happy Krista.

For Mother's Day a few weekends ago, my mother came to visit so I could spoil her and thank her for being a wonderful mother. We started the tradition a few years ago of doing something fun together instead of me giving her a present. The first year I took her for a manicure and pedicure and then tea at the Taj. We had a great time and I hope she felt thoroughly spoiled. Last year, Spike and I took her out to the Four Chimneys in Bennington, Vermont, where we enjoyed a lovely meal complete with escargot for Mom and Spike. But how to top those wonderful Mother's Days?

Well, I am my mother's daughter after all. She loves the movies and food just as much as I do! Thankfully, there was a wonderful combination of the two in the Cinema de Lux at Patriot Place. The Lux Level is a balcony above the regular open seating area in the movie theater which features soft-cushioned love-seats with moveable armrests and swivel dining trays, wider row spacing for spacious seating, and service at the push of a button. That's right, they bring the food to you! And this isn't just popcorn and candy we're talking about (though you can get that too)... they have a full menu. Spike got a burger, I got a veggie burger, and my mom enjoyed a Bento Box filled with appetizers. The best part was that the burgers came with fried pickles on the side! Oh it was so delicious. When the movie was almost over, I felt I hadn't fully utilized our server, so I ordered a ginger ale for kicks. It was a great time, but I'm already worried about topping it next year!
