April Fools!

Ooo baby do I love April Fools' Day! The first day of April makes me happy for a few reasons:

- April means spring
- I was born in April (though I'm turning 30 this month, so I'm not sure that makes me happy)
- I love being sneaky

I played two tricks on Spike this morning and, although he pretended to be a good sport about them, I'm not sure he was very happy with me. The first one was something I always used to do with my family when I was growing up. I would set the table for dinner and place a drop of food coloring in the bottom of each glass. That way, when everyone poured whatever they were drinking into their glass, it would change color. Oh boy did I love that trick. I'm absolutely certain that everyone in my family loved it too. Sure... just like they were "fooled" by it each and every year. Anyway, as it's my responsibility to fill our water bottles for the gym every morning, I was able to sneak a drop of food coloring into Spike's bottle. I couldn't get him to notice, despite some pretty substantial hinting, until we got to the gym and he was none too pleased. He complained that he would get blue all over his mouth and his teeth would turn blue. I'm not sure this is true, but it did cause him to dump out the beautiful blue water and re-fill his bottle at the drinking fountain. Oh well...

The other trick involved sticking a craisin into the end of our toothpaste tube, so that when Spike went to brush his teeth, the craisin would pop out onto his toothbrush. Well, he knew something was up and was on the lookout, but I still think I got him. It was better than last year when I did the plastic wrap over the doorway trick. It wouldn't stick, so I had to duct tape it to the door jam. Well, instead of it just surprising Spike when he walked into it, it actually forced him to bounce back and almost get whiplash. Oops!

They may be hokey, but I still have some tricks up my sleeve, so if you see me today... watch out!
