Happy New Years! For the past few years New Years Day has been the day for outdoor hockey in the NHL. They have played in Buffalo, Chicago, and now they're playing in Boston. Right now at Fenway, the puck is about to drop for a game between the Bruins and the Flyers. The radar is clear and temps are in the lower 30s, so it should be a great day for hockey!
Tickets were nearly impossible to get, but the excitement has been mounting for Spike and I all morning. Actually, the excitement began mounting months ago when we found out that BU would be playing BC on January 8th and we were able to get tickets for that. We would still see hockey played at Fenway!

The anticipation continued a few weeks ago when Spike got to go to a meet and greet with the Bruins players at Fenway. He got to take a sneak peak at the ice and, though he saw the Bruins players from afar, he chose to not actually meet any of them.
Then we found out the public would be allowed to skate at Fenway and we were even more excited... until it was announced only Boston

residents would be allowed to get tickets. Spike's friend Gallagher came to the rescue and was able to get four tickets to skate and shared two with us. We decided that we needed to practice before our big debut at Fenway, so while in the homeland last weekend, Spike and I laced up our skates and took a couple of turns around the pond.
It was my first time on hockey skates (since my feet are too huge to fit in the figure skates I used growing up) and I really missed the toe pick, but I'm glad I got to test out the skates before I make a fool of myself on Sunday! Let's go B's!!!
