Delinquent

Boy I've been a bad blogger lately. It's not as though nothing exciting has happened in my life lately... my best friend had a beautiful baby girl, I turned 31, I took some trips to the homeland, Spike and I hosted our wonderful families for an Easter celebration. All of these things and more have been filling my time and making me happy. So let me try to recap some of the events since I've last blogged.

April is always my favorite month because it's when I celebrate my birthday. This year was no different. I had a lot of good times with friends and was feeling very lucky to be surrounded by such love at the start of my 32nd year.... ugh. That's still hard to deal with. To kick off the birthday celebrations, Spike and I went to homeland, where we got to see my mother and three sets of aunts and uncles! We had great weather and a great time being with each other. There was birthday cake and presents too, which always helps.

The next weekend was officially birthday weekend and I got to start it off with two great friends and a pickle martini. Those ladies made me laugh and laugh and I'm sure the martini helped, but just a little. On Saturday, Spike and I went on a birthday hike and communed with nature. The daffodils were in bloom, the sun was shining, the birds were chirping... it was a beautiful day. Besides a little confusion with the directions and the fear that we would be lost in the woods forever, we had fun. Sunday, the actual anniversary of my birth, was heralded by brunch at the East Coast Grill and the Make Your Own Bloody Mary Bar. I was a little overwhelmed by the spread, but managed to make a pretty decent drink. The rest of the day was a great time spent with friends and porch drinks. I'm so lucky! Monday was Marathon Monday and I think that my 31 years helped me to behave myself. As did the fact that I was carrying the most gorgeous little baby girl on my chest. Oh how adorable the love of my life, Meghan Monaghan, is!

Next came Easter, where Spike and I once again hosted a fabulous celebration. We busted our butts spring cleaning the day before and so all we had to do on Sunday, besides eat chocolate for breakfast, was prepare the meal. The menu consisted of the usual suspects: ham, quiche, potatoes, asparagus. I didn't take pictures of everything this year since it pretty much looked just like last year. I was too busy taking pictures of my adorable soon-to-be niece and nephew anyway:

Now it's May and I will try to be better about blogging. I have a busy month planned and, although it's probably only exciting to me, I will do my best to share what's going on!
