I spent most of the week planning out the awesomeness of this dessert. I cleaned out the flower pots on Monday, bought some oreos and gummy worms on Tuesday, cleaned the flower pots out again on Wednesday, crushed the oreos on Thursday, and bought some ice cream and toffee bars (the clay/slate) on Friday. After a final cleaning of the pots, I loaded them up with the "dirty" goodness. Well, I overestimated my hunger and was only able to eat one layer of the strata, but I saved the rest for a later time and it really was divine. Doesn't it look awesome?

Dirty. Like X-tina.
I washed out a couple flower pots about four times last week. I wanted them to be really clean. Not for the dirt and plants that usually fill my flower pots for a few months before dying, but for another reason entirely. I was making dirt cake. Perhaps you've heard of dirt cake... it's sometimes served at a child's birthday party or, for the really "green" folk, on Earth Day. It's a pudding, oreo cookie concoction that is served in a flower pot with fake flowers and gummy worms and dished out with a trowel. Well, I'm not a huge fan of pudding, so I decided to make my own version of dirt cake. I would include the different strata of the earth, including not only dirt, but also clay/slate and maybe even some lava. I'm also not a huge fan of fake flowers, so I decided that the Girl Scout Caramel Delight cookies had a nice flower shape, so I would use those. They also taste a lot better than fake flowers.
