Spike and I have been out of control movie-watching lately. It's only the middle of June, and so far this month, I've seen 10 movies. There were so many summer blockbusters coming out that I really couldn't keep up with them. Spike and I started going to the movies on Mondays, right after work. Not only is it $1 candy day, NO ONE is there. Both times, there have been only two or three other people in the theater.
We saw Wolverine, which was fine... I really have no problem watching beefy men run around with their muscles rippling. Then, I went to the homeland and saw The Hangover with my mother and brother. We laughed a lot, but the pictures during the credits were a bit much for me to handle.
Spike really wanted to see Terminator Salvation next, but I had never seen any of the Terminator movies. So, like the devoted movie fan that I am, I watched both 1 and 2 the Sunday before we went to see it. I was told I could skip 3 and am grateful as that may have been a bit much even for me. I adore Christian Bale but I couldn't help wondering in what scene he flipped out during filming.
I watched a few movies during the week that really don't need to be mentioned as I'm a bit embarrassed that I actually rented them... oh well. Friday was the movie I'd been dying to see, Up, and it exceeded my expectations. It was just a perfect movie.
More rentals over the weekend. Valkyrie and Slumdog Millionaire, which Spike had never seen. I couldn't get over my dislike of Tom Cruise during the former (oh Maverick, where have you gone?) and I had to close my eyes during the icky parts of the latter. I still love Slumdog and someday I'll learn the dance at the end so I can perform it when I go to India.
So the two that are left are Angels and Demons and Night at the Museum. We plan on seeing NatM this weekend at the IMAX because we have to see it before we go to DC so we know how to handle ourselves in the Smithsonian. But I fear A&D might get bounced out of the theaters before we make it... woe is me. After all of my hard work.
