What happened to the Concorde?

The flight back from Europe is a big pain in the ass. Literally. I spent 16 hours traveling yesterday and I still have fanny fatigue. Lynn, my mom, and I returned from our fabulous trip to Vienna last night after getting up at 4:30am, flying to Paris, laying over for three hours, sitting on the plane for eight hours, and enduring the wrath and stupidity of a German girl who didn't want us to put our seats back. It was quite a day. Can't they find a better way? Why didn't the Concorde work out? It's definitely worth the money to shorten that painful trip across the Atlantic, fighting the Jet Stream along the way.
Vienna is a beautiful city, with grand buildings, narrow, cobblestoned streets, and many many churches. We learned a lot about the Hapsburgs and saw every dish in the royal collection when we toured the Imperial Apartments. Seriously, how many silver platters and gold dishes need be on display? The Crown Jewels were also quite impressive, but it struck me as sad that they are locked up and no one wears them anymore. I think I will offer my services if they need someone to volunteer.

We also learned a lot about the cuisine of Vienna and Austrian beer. The foods there are so rich and I'm glad we didn't stay longer because I wouldn't have been able to avoid packing on the pounds. I was very impressed that many of the restaurants had vegetarian sections as meat plays a large roll in most dishes. I ate a lot of eggs and cheese, but I guess that's pretty consistent with my normal diet anyway! The beer was very good... I especially liked the Radler, which was mixed with lemonade.

Oh yes... the conference went well too.
